Comptel Detection of Pulsed Emission from Psr B1509-58 up to at Least 10 Mev
نویسنده
چکیده
We report the COMPTEL detection of pulsed γ-emission from PSR B1509-58 up to at least 10 MeV using data collected over more than 6 years. The 0.75-10 MeV lightcurve is broad and reaches its maximum near radio-phase 0.38, slightly beyond the maximum found at hard X-rays/ soft γ-rays. In the 10-30 MeV energy range a strong source is present in the skymap positionally consistent with the pulsar, but we do not detect significant pulsed emission. However, the lightcurve is consistent with the pulse shape changing from a single broad pulse into a double-peak morphology. Our results significantly constrain pulsar modelling.

COMPTEL detection of pulsed γ-ray emission from PSR B1509-58 up to at least 10 MeV
We report on the first firm detection of pulsed γray emission from PSR B1509-58 in the 0.75-30 MeV energy range in CGRO COMPTEL data collected over more than 6 years. The modulation significance in the 0.75-30 MeV pulsephase distribution is 5.4σ and the lightcurve is similar to the lightcurves found earlier between 0.7 and 700 keV: a single broad asymmetric pulse reaching its maximum 0.38 ± 0.0...
متن کاملNew Comptel Results on Pulsar Studies at Mev Energies
COMPTEL, aboard the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory , has detected at MeV energies PSR B1951+32 and found indications for a signal from PSR B0656+14. In the combined COMPTEL { EGRET spectra it is apparent that the maximum luminosities of these objects are reached in the COMPTEL energy range, or at least spectral features/bumps are apparent. These spectra can be compared with those of four other p...
متن کاملNustar Observations of the Young, Energetic Radio Pulsar Psr B1509–58
We report on Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR) hard X-ray observations of the young rotationpowered radio pulsar PSR B1509−59 in the supernova remnant MSH 15−52. We confirm the previously reported curvature in the hard X-ray spectrum, showing that a log parabolic model provides a statistically superior fit to the spectrum compared with the standard power law. The log parabolic mode...
متن کاملDetection of pulsed MeV emission from PSR B1951+32 by COMPTEL
We report on the detection at MeV energies of the radio pulsar PSR B1951+32 by the Compton telescope COMPTEL aboard the COMPTON Gamma Ray Observatory (CGRO). Folding the event arrival times with the radio ephemerides, gives for the data collected during CGRO-mission Cycles I+II a pulsar-phase distribution with two peaks, consistent in phase with the pulses measured by EGRET for energies above 1...
متن کاملDetection of VHE Gamma Radiation from the Pulsar Wind Nebula MSH 15-52 with H.E.S.S
This work reports on the discovery of HESS J1514−591, a VHE γ-ray source found at the pulsar wind nebula (PWN) MSH 15−52 and its associated pulsar PSR B1509−58. The discovery was made with the High Energy Stereoscopic System (H.E.S.S.), which currently provides the most sensitive measurement in the energy range of about 0.2–100 TeV. This analysis is the first to include all H.E.S.S. data from o...
